About the SCA
The Society for Creative Anachronism (or SCA) is a group dedicated
to researching the Middle Ages and the Renaissance and promotes
historic learning through hands-on participation. Leadership
is drawn from within the group, so everyone takes ownership of their
local chapter.
The SCA has three main pillars of study and recreation: Sword
Fighting, Arts and Sciences in research and recreation,
and Service and Volunteerism for conducting SCA events. You'll
find there are people who are interested in all manners of activity
within the SCA: making armor, learning sword fighting techniques,
sewing clothing, embroidery, textile arts, weaving, spinning, glass
blowing, bead-making, leather-working, dance, music, heraldic display
and artwork, calligraphy, illumination, pottery, equestrian arts,
metal-working, coin-stamping, jewelry -- you name it in history,
there is someone researching and recreating it.
